Introduced and moderated by Léonce Tira, Director of the Cinémathèque Africaine de Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Léonce will introduce the film, moderate the discussion, and speak about his work at the Cinémathèque Africaine de Ouagadougou.

Synopsis:

Sia, le rêve du Python is a cinematic adaptation of the legend of Wagadu (a 7th century myth of the Soninke people), inspired by the play La légende du Wagadu vue par Sia Yatabéré (The legend of Wagadu as seen by Sia Yatabéré) by the Mauritanian playwright Moussa Diagana. The film is a political and contemporary approach to the Myth, a reflection on the use of mysticism by people in power.

Bio:
Léonce Tira is a doctoral student at the Heritage Laboratory of Norbert Zongo University in Koudougou, Burkina Faso. He holds two Master's degrees: one in Local Development and Management of Territorial Authorities (Thomas SANKARA University, 2021) and another in Cultural Heritage Management (Senghor University, Egypt, 2015). A trained Museum Curator-Restorer from Burkina Faso’s National School of Administration and Magistracy (2010), he has completed specialized training in audiovisual and sound archive management in Canada, Switzerland, and France. Professionally, he has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Cinémathèque africaine de Ouagadougou at FESPACO since 2021. He has also worked as Director of Studies and Director of Exchanges at the Institut supérieur de l'image et du son. In addition to teaching and supervising dissertations, he is active in multiple cultural and development associations, serves on juries for festivals, and contributes to cultural project evaluations and research publications.
