Dreaming Under Capitalism
Twelve people recount and then interpret their memory of a dream about work. These mistreated souls describe, in a poetic and political way, their subjective suffering at work. Bit by bit, the dreamers and their dreams portray a world dominated by neoliberal capitalism.
Sophie Bruneau, anthropologist and filmmaker, has directed documentary films including Dreaming under capitalism (2017), Devil’s Rope (2014), Ghost America (2014), animal on est mal (2014), and co-directed with Marc-Antoine Roudil, Fishing on horseback (1993), A country solicitor (1999), Trees (2001), They didn’t all die, but all of them were it (2005), My body is my degree (2005), the land of utility (2009), Madame Jean (2011). She co-founded alter ego films, a film production and distribution company based in Brussels.
